Baja & Border News Translations: BC Government Demands Zeta Gas Take Action; Ministerial Police Arrest Man Who Violated Girl for 5 Years

BC Government Demands Zeta Gas Take Action (El Mexicano, 10/19/12 by Victor Islas Parra)

MEXICALI, BC - The Government of the State of Baja California requested that the Energy Regulatory Commission (CRE) have the Zeta Gas Company, which belongs to the Zaragoza group, restore gas supply service by pipeline to its customers or consider revoking their concession in the State.

This was reported by Assistant Secretary General of Government, José Manuel Salcedo Sanudo, who calculated the cost of making affected users stock up on gas cylinders or stationary tanks, at 10 million pesos ($778,000 US) without considering the economic losses that have originated from the lockout policy to restaurants, hospitals, etc.

"We sent a warrant to the Regulatory Commission for Energy, to perform an exhaustive review of the case of the Zeta Gas Company for their abrupt interruption of gas pipeline service and to explore the possibility of revoking their concession, since the way the company is acting does not reflect a serious commitment to its users, and it is causing economic losses both to consumers and the economic base", said Salcedo Sanudo. They must either resume gas pipeline service or withdrawal their concession from the State. http://www.el-mexicano.com.mx/informacion/noticias/1/3/estatal/2012/10/19/622700/pide-el-gobierno-de-bc-emplazar-a-z-gas.aspx

TIJUANA, BC - Agents of the Ministerial State Police (PME) apprehended Armando Salazar Cruz, 37, accused of the crime of aggravated rape. The subject is a native of the State of Mexico, who first sexually abused his victim since she was 8 years old, always taking advantage of her as a close family friend.

The child recounted in her statement that on one occasion she was lying down when Armando approached her to touch her, but she resisted, then the attacker threatened to kill her mother and brothers if she said something. The abuse continued until she was age 13 when he raped her.

Last June, the minor decided to tell her parents what Armando did and they lodged a relevant complaint with the Agency of the Public prosecutor's Office against him. The Attorney of Justice explained that the minor presents psychological injuries due to the facts mentioned above, by which the public prosecutor's Office exercised criminal action with a motion of arrest against Salazar Cruz.

The fifth Criminal Court sought the arrest and once secured the sex offender was transferred to the penitentiary of La Mesa, where his legal process will continue. http://www.el-mexicano.com.mx/informacion/noticias/1/22/policiaca/2012/10/19/622553/violo-durante-5-anos-a-una-nina.aspx
