Baja & Border News Translations: Seven Captured at Border; Three Robbery Suspects Arrested

Five Undocumented and "Polleros" Captured (La Chronica, 10/15/12 by Gerardo Fragoso)

MEXICALI, BC - Two Mexicans were arrested on the outskirts of Calexico, discovered while they illegally bringing five people into United States territory.

It all began when, during lunch hours, border patrol agents discovered a green Dodge Ram van, with six individuals. Immediately, U.S. officers began pursuing the unit, who refused to stop, despite the request by the guards.

Finally, thanks to support from other border patrol members, the vehicle was stopped and its occupants were searched. It was found that six individuals did not have required documents in the neighboring country.

Five of the seven men were referred to immigration authorities, with the aim of being deported back to Mexico, due to having no papers. Meanwhile, the driver of the van, 55, who has a permanent residence card, was assured that he faced indictment for trafficking human beings.

Another subject of Mexican nationality and who has illegal immigration status, was also arrested to face responsibility for the same offense, if not also deported. http://www.lacronica.com/EdicionEnLinea/Notas/Noticias/15102012/630654.aspx

Three Robbery Suspects Arrested (La Chronica, 10/15/12 by Gerardo Fragoso)

MEXICALI, BC - Three individuals were arrested in the last hours, after carrying-out robberies against commercial establishments in the State capital.

The first of these three individuals was apprehended in a beer distribution agency located on the corner of la calzada Manuel Gómez Morín and the road to San Luis Río Colorado, where he tried to steal an office air conditioning appliance. The subject, 25, was surprised by one of the security guards of the company, who called the police, detained him and presented him to the public prosecutor's Office on charges of burglary of a dwelling and property damage.

A 54-year-old man, known as “Hormiga” (the Ant) tried to steal from the Fruteria del Ahorro on the corner of calle 11 and Avenida Michoacán in Pueblo Nuevo was also arrested. The subject intended to carry goods, with a value of 63 pesos ($5 US), without paying and was caught by the premises owners and led him to the Prosecutor's Office, which charged him with the crime of theft.

Finally, Jesus, 29, wanted to copy the previous case, but in a supermarket located nearby, at calle 11 and Sinaloa, near the river. This individual was discovered by security cameras, alerting store staff who waited for him at the exit, where he was arrested, and later delivered to the public forces. http://www.lacronica.com/EdicionEnLinea/Notas/Noticias/15102012/630631.aspx
