Border News Translations: 16 Year-old Found Dead; Support Single Moms; Home Fires Controlled

Ensenada BC (El Vigía, 5/7/11) - The decomposed corpse of a minor was found in a house located at 354 Rosario Street in colonia Costa Bella. Staff of the State Attorney-General of Justice sealed off the entrance to the street to remove the body of the girl who was known to her friends as "The Blink". Sources of the Attorney-General of the State (PGJE) reported "The Blink", 16, had stab injuries and that she would have died a week ago. "The Blink" lived alone in the home and some neighbors commented the unit was known frequented by substance users. The forensic medical service transported the body where an autopsy will determine the cause of death.

It was reported one of the houses and the business suffered total losses. The other two homes were only partially damaged because of the smoke and intense flames. The surrounding area was also affected by the fire. There were no injuries but, news of the recent family who died in Tuesday’s fire at "Picosita", resulted in at least two people suffering attacks of nerves. They received medical attention by Mexican Red Cross paramedics. The flames were stifled by about 10 firefighters who arrived in three fire trucks. Two of them needed water recharging because the intensity of the fire wasn’t reduced. Before the fire could spread, residents of the affected homes and others nearby took their belongings away. Firefighters also had to close a gas cylinder which was about to explode. The fire personnel confirmed that three houses and affected workshop are located on calles México y A de la colonia Reacomodo Lomitas. Preliminary reports said the fire originated between the houses and workshop, but the exact cause has not yet been determined. You can prevent fires in your home or place of work: Check electrical and gas lines, Do not leave the oven turned on when leaving, Avoid childrens’ contact with matches or lighters, Don’t accumulate garbage or any other materials that could spread a fire, and If possible, install smoke detectors in your home
