Sports & politics

As I am still reeling from the fact that Trevor Hoffman will be wearing a Milwaukee Brewers' uniform in 2009, the Chargers add to my grief by losing in cold, snowy, Pittsburgh. Now is the time to turn my attention to college basketball. I need to be ready for March Madness.

To all San Diego Padres & Chargers fans; this too shall pass. We will get through this is as we have before. But, 2009 Padres will be a very difficult transition, with either new owners in training, or lame duck owners who have demonstrated a lousy attitude towards the fans.

Now on to much bigger & definitely better things: the inauguration of Barack Obama as President of the United States. They conducted a dress rehearsal and all went well! Bush & Cheney led a tour (Bush probably had to ask questions). This will be a most memorable occasion for the people of these United States who came out to vote and made their collective voices heard, far and wide.

The last 8 years will be remembered as those led by an incompetent, stubborn, arrogant, George "Dubya" Bush. Polls continue to show the "approval" ratings as the lowest in the history of approval ratings. Anything below 10% should definitely be called disapproval ratings. Dubya is leaving behind a legacy that no one can be proud of. The national deficit is outrageous. The wars are out of control and should have ended many years ago. The elitest banking/mortgage industry mismanaged itself into an $700 billion bail-out, by US (taxpayers). Can you say Balance of Trade?? Is everything Made in China now?? Corruption seems to be everywhere. All in all, the USA is in a mess, but most are hopeful that changes can be made. So, out with the old & in with the new. Get ready for the ride.

Jay Leno, Dave Letterman, Jon Stewart, SNL and many, many other pundits are losing the best target they've ever had! The run off will continue for awhile, but beware of the search for good joke materials!!!!
