Senior Volunteer Police Association Endorses District Attorney Bonnie Dumanis

On Thursday afternoon, just after naptime but before the early-bird specials start at Denny's and IHOP, the California Reserve Senior Peace Officers Association announced its endorsement of District Attorney Bonnie Dumanis for mayor of San Diego.

The group, made up of 3000 volunteer officers across the state, praised Dumanis's work for law enforcement officers.

"Her firm hand at the District Attorney’s Office, her proven willingness to do what it takes to keep whiners and agitators from upsetting the apple cart, and her unwavering support for crime victims and law enforcement as long as those crime victims aren't victims of crimes committed by law enforcement, reinforces our decision,” read a statement from the group. "But most of all, she gives us the backing we need to keep the damn kids off our lawns, and for that, we cannot thank her enough."

“I am honored to have [those stale old farts'] support," stated Dumanis.

"Now more than ever, Reserve Senior Peace Officers play a crucial role in our communities and our state. As departments across California deal with cutbacks and layoffs, these ancient fossils are becoming our last defense against young people, dangerous radicals, and cancerous potheads."

In the announcement, Dumanis noted the half-dozen other law enforcement agencies to have backed her run for mayor, including Enos & Roscoe Junior Detectives League, the Baker Street Irregulars, and the San Diego Mall Cop Collective.

However, in October San Diego's own police union, which represents over 1800 officers citywide, announced it was endorsing Nathan Fletcher. Dumanis responded to the endorsement by saying unless they wised up and changed their minds, she would blow the lid off all the dirty dealings the SDPD has worked so hard to cover up over the past ten years.
