A wallow on old wood

There are a few places in Oceanside where one can connect with others without money, words or responsibilites. These days are rare and reflective but also beautiful and harsh. A large storm and big waves brings in a thunder in the night if you are lucky enough to live near the ocean. So upon waking up and hearing the rumor of 10 to 20 waves my instincts take me to the Oceanside Pier. The wind is brisk and the rain sporatic but the lure is insatiable. After falling in love with a childhood friend I grasp at this chance to put my ear phones on and stroll slowly, lost in a emotion of desire and inpatience. There are few of us on the pier on days like this and each one has his, her or their own wallow. I often wonder if the beauty of the wind or the danger of the storm is what drives us to a place where the water crashes and the pillars shake. Maybe it is the silent connection between the people who stray out the pier and appreciate all it offers is what makes us all come here in the first place? All I know is that I enjoy storms, the possibility that others around me are similar and that I have a place to go wallow, think, exercise or just be.
