Dune, Planet Terror, Deep Blue Sea
Okay, so we're reviewing movies from back when.... If you love Jaws, then Deep Blue Sea is what you want. With LL Cool J, Samuel L. Jackson and Thomas Jane in this, GREAT perfomances. I mean you couldn't ask for a better cast. The action and suspense of everything, you can't keep your eyes off the screen. Though I had to admit, I did do one of those look through you hand thing. I didn't even want to stop watching when it got "bloody". This movie will keep you on your seat with all the action packed, drama and suspense you find yourself yelling at the movie telling them what they should and shouldn't do. If you haven't seen this yet, get some family and friends and watch this. NOT suitable for children under 12 though my oldest says it wasn't scary for him and he was 10 in 2005 when he saw this. So get some popcorn and enjoy! "Dusk til Dawn" was the most icky movie that I watched. I mean to have 2 brothers and a family that they took hostage and go to Mexico and "do some business" and get stuck with hundreds of vampires trying to kill you and you can't get out of the "bar". Have to admit though Salma Hayek was HOT! Not to mention George Clooney, what's not to like we all love bad boys, he's great in all that he does. The performance of Quinton Tarantino was extrodinary. I couldn't believe that was him acting that way, WOW. Can't give away the end of the movie, but his is something to watch. This will have you think twice about going to another country or state, having to deal with trying to save your life or someone else's is difficult. This movie will have you on the edge of your seat as well. DEFINITELY NOT FOR THE KIDS!! As for "Grindhouse's Planet Terror" I couldn't even tell you what the movie was about. I couldn't even get into it. It's just not for me... a woman, Rose McGowan, looses a leg and her "boyfriend" jams a machine gun into her stump. They fight off "zombies". I mean come on. Rose McGowan, no matter how far fetched the roles she takes on, she makes them her own. She is a great actor. I can see her in any charater that she brings onto the screen. Okay, I'll try to watch again. No promises. I'll come back and write again a review.— August 23, 2008 12:22 p.m.
Silvia's Pupuseria
If you're Filipino and you want a little piece of home, come here. If you're not, they'll welcome you with open arms. Wonderful food and great atmosphere. Very friendly people. I recommend everything, but if you're unsure try the "pancit". It's like chow mein but better. Also try "chicken adobo", it's just chicken with vegitables and soy sauce. They're both great. If you want to try something different, I say the "menudo" is great too. It's not like the mexican menudo with livers and tripe, it's just pork or beef mixed with vegitables and soy sauce. Also if you LOVE pork, try the "lechon". It's just deep fried in peanut oil. Served with dipping sauce that is "bananas". Everything comes in a combo servings. Choices of 2 main dishes and rice, or you can also get 3 main and rice. Also try the drinks, if you can. I would get the "melon drink", it's just cantelope shavings with the juice. The kids would love it too. No kid menus though. This place is like a buffet. You'll love it here!!— August 20, 2008 2:43 p.m.
Lake Murray Café
If you've been to Centre City Cafe, it's the same thing! So good to be in a place that's like home. Friendly people and the atmosphere is great. Kid friendly too. The menu has everything you want and more. The food is huge, they had to put the side dishes on their own plates. Very affordable and you won't go away hungry. Bring family and friends, they have enough room.— August 20, 2008 2:30 p.m.
Anna's Family Restaurant
The service here was terrible. We waited at least 15 minutes for the waitress to take our orders. With kids, they should at least given you 10 or less. At least ask if you're somewhat ready. The waitress also gave a bad attitude towards us and others. Seems like she was in a hurry and very rude. The way they were dressed was messy and dirty, I know they work in a food place but they don't need to wear the food. The atmosphere was okay. This place is not kid friendly at all. If it's a "family restaurant" they should have kid menus, they should change the name of the place then. We had breakfast meals. They give you side options with certain dishes. I wouldn't get the biscuits and gravy, the biscuits were dry and hard, the gravy was salty and had the texture of paste. My eggs were not cooked right, suppose to be over easy the yolk was hard. The hashbrowns wasn't cooked all the way through. The kids had to get the regular size pancakes, you couldn't eat them. They were so over done that it looked like frisbees. My husband had the denver ommlette. The eggs were overcooked and wasn't even a "denver" nothing. The drinks had hairs in them and the glasses were dirty. I wouldn't tell anyone about this place. Very gross.— August 20, 2008 2:22 p.m.
Embers Grille
We went there 2 times. Thought I should of gave it a chance, I was wrong. Even though it was 4-6 months apart, I thought it would change. It is not kid friendly and not even an Italian restaurant. They tell you it's a kid menu, but they forget to tell you for kids ages 9-13. The portions were way too big for any kid under the age of 9. The regular menu is way to overpriced. I got the baked chicken breast with the balsamic sauce (I really ordered the baked lemon chicken breast but they took 25 minutes to make it and the rest of my party was done eating, so I had to take it home, seriously no joke). The service wasn't even right. She took so long to get our drinks and appetizers order that we waited at least 15 minutes. She got our orders wrong. Charged us an extra plate. When we told the manager she said that they were sorry and that she'll give us an $5 off check for the next time we go there. $5? I don't think so. For a party of 4 with 2 kids we spent that night $120 at least. We told the manager we wouldn't be coming back, she didn't take anything off the check. We had to ask her to take the 1 plate that the waitress charged us that we didn't recieve or order, she said that the waitress said we did eat it. I thought the customer's are always right. Not here. Sorry to say that the only thing that was good was the bread you had to dip in the vinager and oil. The drinks were all watered down too. This wasn't fine italian dining at all. I won't even tell you if they take credit cards or not. They'll probably get your order to someone else that is there and charge you something they ordered, worse yet not what you though it was.— August 19, 2008 5:23 p.m.
D.Z. Akin's
I love the deli, you can get anything you want. From meats to cookies. The food is great, but to me, it's overpriced. It is kid friendly. They do take major credit cards but no checks.— August 19, 2008 5:04 p.m.
Super Buffet
Sorry, wrong comment posted! This place is great. Kid friendly and they have their own buffet bar! They even serve beer. The atmosphere is charming. You can bring the whole family and your friends. You'll never leave here hungry. You name it they have it all here. Even have a place that you can make your own noodles to order. They take major credit cards, no checks.— August 19, 2008 5:02 p.m.

D'Amato's Pizza & Italian Restaurant
I wouldn't come here again. The lighting is poor, you couldn't see the menu that well. The place is very small, and not romantic, if that was their intension. The pizzas are not cooked all the way through, not enough cheese. The sauces to every dish (pizza to pasta) is bland. The pastas come out overcooked and dry. The deserts I should of skipped because they were skimpy and dry. It is not kid friendly. The service stinks, you had to wait forever to get something to drink. Even to tell them they had your order wrong. Let's just say for the price listed, it's not worth it.— August 19, 2008 4:53 p.m.
None
If your looking to spend a romantic night out, come here. Even to hang out with some friends or even after the game! This is the place to be. The bar has the biggest yard of beer in this huge glass that goes litterally from floor to your chest (I'm 5'9"). it may not be kid friendly, but the atmosphere is great. The food is delicious! It can put a dent in your wallet, so you have to find coupons or call and find out if they have some deals going on.— August 19, 2008 4:40 p.m.
