U-T sued for copyright infringement

Fascinating development. I'm curious to see how the U-T responds to this. Usually the copyright trolls target individuals and small businesses that don't have the resources to fight back the claim and will settle rather than fight simply because it's cheaper. Some scholars have identified this odious practice as "strategic litigation." The website http://www.extortionletterinfo.com has lots of information about this topic. It's become a bit of an epidemic in recent years and some of the most notorious trolls -- such as Getty Images -- have themselves been trolled by others. What comes around!

People who make under a 100k a year are the solid core foundation of America's capitalist engine. These are the people who do almost all of the actual productive work. Without Americans who make less than 100k a year, the rest wouldn't exist.

We may be witnessing something similar to the French Revolution happening in our times. This is truly an awakening of the formerly stupefied and commodified masses. The Tea Party is a symptom of the general population feeling that they are being used by powerful others. Unfortunately, they failed to recognize the true enemy. The Occupiers have succeeded at identifying the root cause of the problem: America's worst enemy is its own docility to the one percent that would own all of it and enslave the other ninety-nine. I for one am very glad to see the docility fading. It had to take an extreme situation such as the most outrageous transfer of public wealth to private hands to jolt our people into sanity again. Once those vapor homes and cars were taken away by those that led us to believe we owned them, we realized what a complete mockery of a travesty of a sham it's been all along. Once the campaign finance floodgates were opened by a reckless gang of robed ideological cultists, we realized that we were voting just to keep appearances. The people are not even asking for that much. A little help with the taxes. Stop lying to us about our health and wars. Stop taking a massive dump on the environment's punch bowl. Please be good corporate citizens. But no. We're going to have to do this the hard way. Stupid plutocrats will be really sorry they didn't pony up a couple more bucks to keep up their charade. Now it's too late to put the ointment back in the tube.

This is the reason you can't ride jet skis near the beach or board surfers and swimmers: "Boat speed limits are regulated by law for certain areas and conditions. When no speed limit is posted, operate your boat so that it will not endanger others. Always keep a proper lookout and never load a boat with passengers or cargo beyond its safe carrying capacity." "The maximum speed for motorboats within 100 feet of a bather and within 200 feet of a bathing beach, swimming float, diving platform or lifeline, passenger landing being used, or landing where boats are tied up is 5 miles per hour." It's impossible to tow-in a surfer without exceeding the speed limit and being too close to swimmers and board surfers. It's unfortunate that sports activities need to be so heavily regulated, but the priority is public safety and I can tell you from personal experience that personal watercraft riders can be amazingly negligent when they ride around non-motorized craft, such as surfboards, kayaks, sailboards, sailboats, etc. and around swimmers.
