San Diego Gay and Lesbian News, against Gay and Lesbian Times
Response to post #59: As I said, people defending Portantino wrote me emails saying I had done Portantino a disservice. You say I favored Portantino. Those are exactly the responses I expected. Best, Don Bauder By dbauder 8:50 p.m., Jun 19, 2010 > Report it *************************************************** You know you are doing something right when both sides of an issue are upset with you.— June 20, 2010 12:25 p.m.

Rate of Home Price Declines Continues Dropping
Of course home prices are up; there is a significant drop in the amount of homes for sale. A lot of properties are being held off the market, causing a mini bubble for those who are overbidding $20k to get an $8k rebate. The foreclosure moratorium contributed as well, as it's dragging the bottom-out of prices. Then again, the banks will probably just trickle out properties for the next few years, seeing how well it's working for them now.— November 24, 2009 10:23 a.m.

Police Officer and Rapper -- One Kills a Man. One Gives Away Cars.
Typical how the family calls for help after the man being "crazy and out of control", yet gets upset when police try to control the guy. Any situation that involves the police will hold the possibility of someone being shot; it all depends on how people react. With the knowledge of a taser not controlling the subject, my thought is that it would take over 6 cops to bring this guy down. Tasers work for bringing down most people, leaving them incoherent for at least a few minutes afterwards. If it didn't work for this guy, it means something with more force is necessary. Does that justify using a gun? Of course not. But should it means 6-10 cops risk harming themselves, their careers, etc. just so a guy can stop harassing his family? Josh, you are right that a guy like this should be getting help and not be part of society until they can control themselves. There is little help out there for them, really. County Mental Health gives you 72 hours, which does little in the long run. If you do not have private insurance, good luck getting into a group home or the steady dose of meds. In a way, if this guy was off any meds, shooting him saved his family and society more costs in the long run.— September 12, 2009 11:40 a.m.
Board-domme
Having received requests for police to respond to neighbors arguing over one putting their trash can 1/2 ft over the other's property line, complaints like this do not surprise me. It's sad that we call people adults when they qualify in age only.— September 10, 2009 8:20 p.m.
San Diego Stupid Chargers -- The Tila Tequilla Edition
The thing about claims of domestic violence....in CA, due to the occasional problem of some women/men being chronic victims, if someone claims they were hit by their significant other, police are required to make an arrest. That's a big part of the rise in the false claims. You're right Josh, any cop that has some experience has seen most sides of any scenario. Their BS meters are in tune, especially dealing with neighbors having an argument over trash cans crossing property lines, parents who call for a cop to force their kid to go to school, someone calling for the 10th time to document that their kids' other parent didn't show up on time for child exchange, etc. They seem to be 85-90% therapist/guidance counselor, 10-15% protection. Filing a false claim SHOULD be punished more, but the criminal system is already clogged up. Going after morons wasting time and resources would only slow down the cases that should be prosecuted.— September 8, 2009 3:05 a.m.
Bicyclists and Podiatrists
The "corking" is the main reason I don't participate in CM. Sure, I want respect as a cyclist (both bicycle and motorcycle) from other vehicles, but I know that I have to earn it by following the law. I expect others to do the same.— September 6, 2009 4:20 p.m.
