Changeling
I know that I'm not supposed to love a serial killer. But I did. I was mezmorized by this guys dialogue. When asked by reporter's, "How did you avoid capture?", the killer turns with raised cuffs and says "Well, I didn't, did I?" Great movie, aside from the gratuitous Jolie beauty shots.— March 24, 2009 2:32 p.m.
Ranchos Cocina
This is the best place for my health conscious buddy and I to enjoy Sunday dinner. Rancho's has added an organic, pay-by-the-pound salad bar, but our waiter allowed me to substitute a house salad instead of rice and beans with my taco/enchildada combo plate, for no extra charge. There is so much to choose from on the extensive menu, but my buddy swears by the salmon taco's. The restaurant has grown triple in size since first opening, so no waiting for a table! The eclectic decor, though, still makes this a cozy, warm, attractive place to catch up with an old friend and enjoy fantastic food!— March 9, 2009 9:48 p.m.
Choke
Clark Gregg's adaptation of Chuck Palahniuk's, Choke, was in true Palahnuik fashion; dark, multi-layered, and fascinating! Where does he come up with this stuff? Well, in reading other Palahniuk works, I've learned that in the years past, Palahnuik supplemented income by working as a caregiver to folks, who spent a lot of time in 12 step meetings. Palahnuik brings us a colorful, honest, unconventional part of human nature. Gregg's movie did a fantatstic job of illustrating this on screen. I checked out the deleted scene's on DVD just to give me a little more insight on the plot. Scene Fight Club? Well, this is a movie for true Palahnuik fans, not just those of Brad Pitt.— March 1, 2009 10:40 a.m.
Harney Sushi
I LOVED THIS PLACE! WENT THERE TO PREVIEW THE VIBE, BEFORE SPENDING THE BREAD ON A VALANTINE'S DAY EVENING. WE WENT IN ON A THURSDAY AFTERNOON, AND FOUND A LOVELY BARTENDER, WHO WAS SUPER FRIENDLY AND PERSONABLE. IT WAS VERY EASY TO MAKE FRIENDS WITH A FELLOW PATRON, WHO JUST HAPPENED TO BE DJ'ING THERE THE NEXT AFTERNOON. HE GAVE US A CD OF HIS MIX, AND WAS HAPPY TO SHARE HIS MUSICAL TASTE AND BACKGROUND WITH MY BOYFRIEND, WHO ALSO DJ'S. MY BOYFRIEND WENT THE NEXT DAY TO CHECK IT OUT. WE DID DECIDE TO MAKE HARNEY SUSHI OUR SECOND STOP ON VALANTINE'S DAY, AND WERE SO HAPPY TO SEE OUR LOVELY BARTENDER. SHE MADE IT ESPECIALLY WELCOMING, AS SHE GREETED US BOTH BY NAME! WE HAD THE BEST DIRTY MARTINI'S, WHICH WENT PERFECTLY WITH OUR EDAMAME. WE THEN ENJOYED AN INEXPENSIVE SAKE, WHITE CRANE. BONUS! ALTHOUGH OUR NEW DJ FRIEND WASN'T SPINNING, HE WAS THERE ENJOYING ANOTHER DJ THAT EVENING! WE ARE SO PLEASED TO FIND SUCH AN ATTRACTIVE, COOL, CHARMING PLACE AWAY FROM THE PATH OF NEWPORT AVENUE.— February 19, 2009 9:17 a.m.
