City Issues Partial Refunds To Residents in Greater Golden Hill
This is outrageous. When the government makes a mistake - AND ADMITS TO IT - where the hell do they get the nerve to start playing games with delays and statutes of limitations crap. When you go to Vegas, ties go to the House. Well, listen here politicians. The people are the House in this game and ties go to us. Not to you and your weasel worded manipulations. What's wrong is wrong and if these taxes were illegal, then they were illegal and ALL the money collected for them was illegal and thus owed back to the taxpayer. What part of that do you all not understand?— August 6, 2012 2:38 p.m.
Marco Li Mandri wants to get around Prop 13
Li Mandri is a schemer who, as owner of a private, profit making entity has no right whatsoever to put his hands into the taxpayer's pocket. If he has such good ideas he needs to market them AND SELL THEM TO THE PUBLIC...who can then decide whether they want to buy what he is selling, OR NOT. Doing it through property tax additions/manipulations is out and out piracy. And the council members who support this are co-conspirators and need to be held accountable. They are stewards of the public's treasure and have a duty to ensure that the public's money is spent wisely. When was the last time an audit was performed on where our Property taxes are spent and how? We need to have an audit to see if our public officials are acting responsibly and wisely. And if they are not, they need to be thrown out of office. Everyone is going through hard times and having to make hard decisions. Decisions on what are priorities and what are non-essential's. And I can see no reason whatsoever that our public officials be exempted from these hard times and hard decisions. if they can't come up with more efficient and creative ways to do their jobs then they need to stop sucking at the public teat and step aside to let other, more worthy people serve the public. Remember that. You are public servants, not rulers.— April 25, 2012 5:44 p.m.
Judgment Finalized In Legal Battle Over Golden Hill Maintenance Assessment District
What concerns and angers me is that there are no consequences to those officials who abused their power and fraudulently imposed this tax. The lesson they will take away from this is to go and try it again, under some other guise or half-truth, requiring the rest of us to spend valuable time watching them like hawks and then going through the same arduous fight again. It's like being forced to constantly play "Whack a Mole" to make sure things stay on the up and up. I think officials who abuse their power like this should be prosecuted and jailed, sending a clear message to others who might be considering playing this game to think twice. Politicians/elected representatives need to realize that the public trust is a priceless commodity and should not be toyed with.— February 10, 2012 2:23 p.m.
