This phenomenal local San Diego group came together to perform, enjoy and experience each others talents. By doing so they created an amazing band that is talented in virtually every genre of music. Each member is a seasoned musician all notably recognized for their collective talent. The group brings to the client a vast wealth of experience including, but not limited to, performing for Royalty, Presidential Events, Television, Cinema, Commercials, Recordings, Fund Raisers, Product Launches and various other endeavors. Notably they have released original recordings, toured with top performing artists, recorded sound tracks for the cinema and television.

Crosswinds music makes memories and their presence creates an atmosphere where people enjoy themselves. A perfect fit for any occasion or surroundings: cool and quiet dinner music, hot rock and roll, the very new, the very old, fun in the fifties, classic, contemporary, country western, jazz, blues and any other sound. Crosswinds band members have performed all over the United States and Europe for events as small as 100 up to thousands. They are high-energy, fun, talented, enthusiastic, exceptional, entertaining, and professional.

Professionalism is Crosswinds key word right down to the smallest details to coordinate the event, nothing is overlooked. Details are crucial to a perfect event from double checking the sound system, conferring with the client or planner on the time line, noting any announcement that need to be made. We tailor our performance to each occasion, working within all budgets so everything meets your specifications, resulting in a perfect, successful and memorable event.

Steve Nichols has been playing for over 35 years, drawing from sources as diverse as rock, classical, jazz, latin-jazz, blues, and country. Steve’s professional experience includes recording and performing in San Diego, Los Angeles, and throughout the western states. Recently, Steve has been a mainstay in San Diego, performing, recording and teaching private guitar lessons.
In 1990-91 Steve produced his own project called “Transitions,” performed and recorded by his group Crosswinds.
Artists and bands Steve has shared the stage with include Billy Cobham, Barney Kessel, B.B. King, Lou Rawls, Frankie Lane, The Bill Green Orchestra , Henry Cuesta , Carl Fontana, Palomar Jazz Ensemble, Pacific Brass and Electric, The Surf Kings , Bayou Bros., Mirage , The Gypsy Swing Cats , The Fabulous Pelicans , Grossmont College Jazz Ensemble, O.J. Ekemode and the Nigerian All-Stars, Charlie Daniels, Eddie Raven, and John Anderson.

Lessons with Steve Nichols cover Seven-Note Diatonic Scale Theory. The student learns fret board familiarization, and is taught scale and chord relationships used in improvisation and reading. Ear training and chord substitution are emphasized. The student learns various techniques for each of the different musical styles, including rock, country, blues, jazz, and popular music. The basis of this training is to learn to play the guitar with ease, developing the student’s total musicality.
