Man Choked, Arrested at Occupy San Diego
Troll. Go back to Michigan. Go Aztecs!— November 14, 2011 8:33 a.m.
Man Choked, Arrested at Occupy San Diego
"Man resists arrest at Occupy San Diego" would have been a better title for this article. If the guy wanted to get arrested for the cause, there was no reason to resist the officers. It isn't like he was going to win. The courts have already ruled that cops have the right to use whatever force is reasonably necessary to overcome resistance - Graham v. Connor. The subject was placed in a restraint around his neck to overcome the resistance. Thanks to the wonderful videotaped evidence, the subject was obviously not "choked." He continually stated, "No!" to the officers verbal commands. Had be been choked, he wouldn't have been able to say anything. I dare the author of this article to swallow an entire marshmallow and choke to see if he can verbally say, "No!" several times. It ain't going to work. The credibility of the eye witnesses are diminished by their quotes.— November 13, 2011 8:31 a.m.
Dolphins Spotted in Mission Bay
Time to put the fishing pole in the water at the jetty. If the Dolphins are coming in, there's gotta be plenty of fish. Who would call SeaWorld? Dolphins don't need our help.— September 15, 2010 7:15 p.m.
Cops Greenlight Innertubapalooza
Thanks Mayor Sanders for cutting the Mission Bay Police. I can't wait for the water to get warmer. Got my raft at Costco last week. Ready to set sail with my 18 pack.— March 11, 2010 11:49 p.m.
Dirty, Suspicious
Does this story have a point? Cars stolen in PB and Mission Beach are recovered elsewhere. Cars recovered in PB and MB are cars reported stolen by drunks who forgot where they parked. The rear window was probably broken because the drunk left his laptop in the car and a burglar wanted it. SDPD should charge a recovery fee for found stolen vehicles. This fee could help fund needed units like the Mission Bay Harbor Police Unit.— January 8, 2010 3:20 a.m.
Stupid Cops -- The No Habla English Edition
Do you have any idea how much money the City of San Diego pays employees to speak Spanish or other languages besides English? Many employees get an extra percentage of their base salary if they are bilingual. I don't understand it. If you know the language when you are hired, you shouldn't get paid extra for a skill you bring to your employment. You are hired based on the skills you have. Does the employee that is a little more proficient in their work get more money? Not in a government setting where salaries are fixed in the position in which you hold. I can understand the employer paying for an employee to get training to become bilingual, I just don't understand why we would pay people extra for skills they bring to the table when getting hired. I'm sure some people have been hired over others because the fact that they were bilingual. Why pay them more. They got the job with what they had to offer.— October 28, 2009 2:09 a.m.
So many San Diegans carry guns
Nate- Why don't you associate with black people or other people of race? The only reason you are getting away with what you are doing is because you are white and dress like a dork. If you took 20 guys from the intercity (people of race), put guns on their hips, and paraded around La Jolla, your little gig would be up in a heart beat. Every yuppie and their mother would be on the phone to their local elected official and a law would be written the next day preventing your stupidity. If you wanna be fanatical, why don't you do it. I challenge you to gather up 20 black people and give them all guns. Walk from northern La Jolla to southern Pacific Beach. While you are at it, wear red outfits and exert your first amendment rights and wave signs that read, "F* the Crips." The Constitution allows you to do it. So, do it. Do something news worthy. By suggesting this, some might consider me racist. I'm not racist!! I'm a realist. If "gang members" start doing this, it won't be tolerated. Just because the Constitution allows you to do something, doesn't mean it is correct. I am a gun owner and proud of it. I just think Nate's need for attention is unwarranted.— July 19, 2009 9:19 a.m.
Smashed in P.B.
Don't leave anything in your car if you aren't going to park it in a garage. Simple as that. If you do, thanks. I can't wait to get a heck of a deal on your stuff on eBay. San Diego cops are seeing a record shortage in staffing. Crooks are breaking into car all day and night long. If they get caught, they are out the next day. It's called BUDGET. The City doesn't have one to hire cops and the state doesn't have one to incarcerate non violent offenders. Bottom line, park your car in a garage or leave the windows down. It is only going to get worse.— March 28, 2009 3:03 p.m.
