What do you like about it? The seats are the most comfortable thing in the entire world. They’re squishy. It also gets really good gas mileage — it has a small tank, but great mileage. It’s surprisingly spacious, too. It looks small from the outside, but because it’s sort of bubbly, the backseats have a lot of space, so it’s good for road trips, as long as there are only two people in the backseat.

Any Tickets or Accident stories? No accidents, but I do have ticket stories.

Once, we were coming back from Tahoe and my boyfriend was driving my car, a Chevy Tahoe, early in our relationship. We were listening to music really loud and trying to get home, on a nine-hour drive. We were going too fast, and he got pulled over. We were listening to “My Humps” really loud. It was really embarrassing. We decided that we’re never listening to that song again. It’s bad news.

What do you listen to while you drive? Not “My Humps” anymore! It’s usually 94.9 or 91X. Sometimes I’ll listen to Dave, Shelly, and Chainsaw on my way to work in the morning.

What’s your favorite drive in San Diego? Out to my dad’s house in Jamul. It’s so pretty. There are all these mountains, and right when you’re about to get to his house you’re on one of these small, windy roads, and there are trees covering the whole road: it kind of doesn’t feel like San Diego anymore.

There are so many accidents up there, though. We lost a lot of people on that road in high school. People just drive so fast out there because they get used to the drive and have to do it every day. I used to do it, too. But people were dying, and I sort of grew up a little, too....stopped being so reckless.

How’s your commute? Not bad at all. I live in west Hillcrest — almost in Mission Hills — so I can just go down Washington, hop on the 5, and then the office is right off the 5 at UCSD. It takes maybe 10, 15 minutes. Traffic usually isn’t awful, just sometimes getting on the freeway because of those lights.

Where do you experience the worst traffic in San Diego? The 52 at rush hour is awful, going east. Then again, I don’t go up north very often, and I hear that it’s awful at the merge. I don’t do that often, so that’s nice.

What bothers you most about other people’s driving? People are too impatient. And you can tell that they just want to get around you. I just want to tell them, “chill out!” Other people’s road rage annoys me. Every once in a while I can be that way, too — when I’m in the mood. But when other people do it, it annoys me!

What’s your favorite driving shortcut in San Diego? I have a great shortcut! I take Bachman [Place] from Hillcrest to the 8 and avoid getting on Washington. Most people use the 163 to get on the 8, and it always backs up, which backs up Washington. So you take Bachman down, you hit Hotel Circle, go left on Hotel Circle, and you can get on the 8 right over there. You go through the back neighborhood of Hillcrest, between Scripps hospital and UCSD hospital. There’s never anyone over there, so there’s no traffic. If we park in the alley, we don’t even have to get on Washington.
