It is unknown if police believe all the robberies to be related. However, police say almost all of the robberies were committed during daytime hours on weekdays and the point of entry was a side window, a garage door, or a shed door. Police also disclosed that electronics, computers, jewelry, and a bike or motorcycle were stolen from most of the residences.

A December 1 announcement from the La Mesa Police Department stated that the following blocks had been affected by recent burglary activity:

Southwest: 4200 block of 70th St., 4200 block of Eastridge, 4600 block of Katherine, 4000 block of Marian, 7500 block of Ohio, 4700 block of Zelda, 3800 block of Massachusetts.
