Over burritos in Mission Valley, former local resort hotel concierge Juan Mas (not his real name) told of a visit paid by AC/DC guitarist Malcolm Young:

"My coworker Linda assisted him and I witnessed it. She's an older lady and came up to me and said, 'I have this really nice-dressed man with extremely long hair and an Australian accent. He bought a computer somewhere in town, and he has no idea where it is, and he's coming to me to find his purchase.'

"We started calling computer stores, and I think we got it on the second try. We spoke to the store manager, and he said he had the same dilemma: he had a customer come in and buy a computer but had no idea where he wanted the computer sent. By the time we found the computer, Mr. Young had already checked out of the hotel, and we had to call Australia to find an address to have CompUSA send it to him.

"Linda said he was a 'very lovely man' and wanted to hear what kind of music he played. I brought her an AC/DC CD to check out, and she said she couldn't believe it. 'How could such a nice man produce such loud music?' "
