More like At Middlington, amirite, fellas? Stolid dramedy that plays like a Boomer fantasy of what Gen Xers must be feeling now that their kids are heading off to college. Vera Farmiga, never less than fascinating, is in full wacky Diane Keaton mode as a free-spirit mom with a Type A (and capital B) daughter. Andy Garcia plays a cardiac surgeon named Hartwell — and no, making a note if it in your thudding script does not make it okay — as if he's under sedation. His son isn't sure what he wants from life, but he knows he wants to work at the college radio station under the tutelage of the world's worst Wolfman Jack impersonator. Because the kids today? They love radio. Our middle-aged mom and dad clash at first, but you know what they say about opposites: they often decide to ditch their kids on a college tour and spend the day stealing bikes, climbing bell towers, crashing drama classes, and otherwise participating in an old person's fantasy of collegiate freedom.
