Endre Hegedűs
Hungarian pianist Endre Hegedűs' only San Diego appearance of his current North American tour will include works by Bach, Schubert, Schumann, Chopin, and Mussorgsky.
Mr. Hegedűs is a graduate of the Franz Liszt Academy of Music of Budapest, Hungary, in both performance and pedagogy, where he is currently Professor of Piano. He has won prizes at ten international piano competitions including first prizes at the Rina Sala Gallo in Monza, Italy, and the Rachmaninov International Piano Competition in Morcone, Italy.
In 1999 the Steinway Center of New York City conferred on him the title of “Steinway Artist,” and in England he was named among the best three hundred active pianists in the world. In 2000, he was awarded the Franz-Liszt-Prize by the Minister of Hungarian National Cultural Heritage.
Mr. Hegedűs has performed extensively in most countries of Europe, as well as in Canada, Australia, Japan, South Korea, the former Soviet Union and the United States. The concert is co-sponsored by the House of Hungary, San Diego, and the Scripps Ranch Friends of the Library.
