Lualta formed in Chula Vista in the late nineties, fronted by singer Michael Hernandez, whose degree of local infamy can be measured by how often people still talk about the time he threw up while filming an episode of the local music TV show Fox Rox.

They were 2002 SDMA nominees for Best New Artist for their debut EP Catapult. The quintet's 2008 EP, This Is A Vengeance, was recorded at Earthling Studios with Mike Kamoo, as was their 2010 album Nobody Loves You When You're Down.

As for the 2010 album title, “A lot of the tracks were written at a very low and dark point in my life,” says Hernandez. “[The title track] is speaking of a breakup and self-reflecting on how you’ve become nothing that you anticipated in life. One line in the song says, ‘Take your wine and your records, to me they don’t mean nothing.’ Obviously, trying to convince oneself that they don’t give a f*ck about a breakup is clearly a lie.”
